Dear Parents,

Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year at New World Educational Center. I look forward to getting to know you and am excited to start the school year. Together, we will work to ensure that your child reaches his/her full potential.

For those parents I haven't met, my name is Jacqueline Merrick, and I am the Curriculum Director at New World Educational Center. I am beginning my 18th year at the New World Educational Center. Within those years, my job titles have included Special Education Teacher, Collaborative Peer Teacher, and Second Grade Teacher. In addition, I was a Para-Professional in a high school setting in Aurora, Illinois. My educational accomplishment includes a Master Degree in Special Education and a Bachelor's degree in Business Management from the University of Phoenix.

I have lived in Arizona for many years. However, I was born in Mississippi. I grew up in Illinois and Arizona. I have three children and eight grandchildren. I enjoy spending time with my family, attending concerts, helping people in the community, and helping children in need.

Curriculum Director Responsibilities

My work responsibilities this year will include the oversight of the following:

• Curriculum-making sure that our Curriculum is highly effective and approved by the Department of Education
• Para-professional- I ensure that they support the teachers, are used effectively, and are in the best interest of the students.
• Professional Development Training-Provide ongoing training for the entire staff to maintain the highest quality of educational services being provided to the students.
• Assessments of the district and state assessment to ensure that all students grow academically.
