Expectations

Stage fright and public speaking are very common fears.  This year we are going to be working to develop comfortable stage presence and performance skills.  We will be learning the basics of singing.  We will use classroom instruments to practice our music reading skills. We will learn music listening skills to explore musical genres from around the world and throughout history.  Students will be learning to create their own music with instruments, in written form, and electronically.  I am also very excited to tell you that older students will have the opportunity to join an after school beginning band very soon.

Safety is of utmost importance.  School-wide pandemic guidelines will be enforced in my classroom.  Additionally, our regular school-wide rules are all the more important when using expensive instruments and in loud settings:
1. Listen and Follow Directions.
2. Be Kind With Your Words and Actions.
3. Keep Hands, Feet, and Objects to Yourself.
4. Use Materials Properly.

I will be using ClassDojo to communicate with parents and reward students for good behavior.
